Atlantic Immigration Program

In line with the Canadian Government’s initiative to stimulate population growth, develop a skilled workforce and increase employment rates in the Atlantic Canada region, the Atlantic Immigration Program was launched. The provinces affected include Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and Labrador and, Prince Edward Island. It is an employer-driven program that involves the hiring of foreigners who meet the employers need and the program criteria.

When the designated employer, finds a suitable candidate, that employer would first be required to offer a job which is Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) exempt. Once the candidate has accepted the job, the employer will connect the candidate with a designated settlement service provider organization for a needs assessment and to develop a settlement plan. Employers will also support the long-term integration of the new immigrant and his or her family, if applicable, so they can reach the goals of their settlement plan once they arrive in Canada.
